Shia LaBeouf to Feel 'Fury' in David Ayer's World War II Tank Drama

Earlier this month we learned that Brad Pitt would return to World War II in a film called Fury, a drama from End of Watch director David Ayer that follows five crew members of an American Sherman tank called Fury as they head into battle during the final days of the war in 1945 as the Nazi regime begins to collapse. Now casting is underway to fill out the rest of the crew and Variety has word that Shia LaBeouf is in talks to join the team. Those are two pretty big names, so it sounds like this might be quite an impressive ensemble for a film that Ayer wrote himself and already has a November 14th, 2014 release planned.

As Ayer said when this project first came to light, he wants to "bring a fresh execution to the genre. What these men went through is worthy of a complex, honest portrayal. This will have incredible, visceral action and complex rich characters. I plan to bring tank combat to life in a way that lands with a modern audience." Shooting is supposed to begin this fall, so expect the rest of the cast to be finalized very soon. LaBeouf just recently became attached to Spy's Kid with Robert De Niro, but the film doesn't have a writer yet, so there shouldn't be any conflict between these two projects. Sound good?
